Nguwe Wedwa Youth Development Organization Changes the Lives of Youth

Mbongeleni Mzimela - Nguwe Wedwa Youth Development Organization CEO

INTRODUCTION OF NGUWE WEDWA YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Nguwe Wedwa Youth Development Organization was birthed in the heart of the young school minister of the Gospel, inspirational speaker, and musician, Mbongeleni Mzimela (27). He joined hands with five members. Nguwe Wedwa Youth Development was created with a purpose to serve the disadvantaged South African youth, provide mentorship, support, development and assist up skill. Nguwe Wedwa formulated programmes to help the youth discover and develop their own talents, identify the careers they wish to pursue, learn entrepreneurial skills, develop and nurture a positive mindset. Mbongeleni believes that once one’s thinking changes a lot of positive changes take place. Nguwe Wedwa serves in Ethekwini , working closely with Safer Cities Initiative.

Nguwe Wedwa’s main focus is youth, especially those that are in secondary school, and creating an entrepreneurial space for unemployed youth, the under-educated (eg high school dropouts), young females who got pregnant as teenagers, youth suffering alcohol and drugs abuse.

Nguwe Wedwa reaches a lot of youth throughout eThekwini, unearthing talent and giving them a chance at positively changing their lives, find enlightenment and finding a way to success free from the influence of drugs, breaking free from peer pressure and constructively keep the youth busy and off streets. Once Nguwe Wedwa discovers youth talent, Nguwe Wedwa showcases them nationally and abroad. Nguwe Wedwa is a solution driven youth development organization that tackles social issues head-on.

CONCLUSION

This is what Mbongeleni says:
There is high percentage of youth needs the assistance that Nguwe Wedwa provides. The youth faces the challenge of not making progress in their lives without the interventions we have introduced especially those in the rural and semi-urban areas. These issues affect the whole community.
Based on our research the country of South Africa, and especially eThekwini, is much respected around the globe. This is attracting others that are not even Africans to come and cash in on our wealth which is in our communities when our own people cannot reap any rewards from investments made due to the lack of knowledge. We are not taught how to equip ourselves utilizing our own businesses, careers, talents and gifts. We have not been encouraged enough to avoid being under the influence of drugs and alcohol that has cut short many lives of youth and destroyed their future before it began.

Nguwe Wedwa is here to showcase and develop talent, as well as guide career choices and increase the entrepreneurial skills of our youth. Nguwe Wedwa is an organization that has implemented a number of programs in ward 98 in places like Inkwali, Skhaleni, Mashiwase, and Msimbazi and in and around Durban area. We believe that as the knowledge of developing the community reaches these places, it would eventually grow into mainstream areas of eThekwini municipality such as uMlazi, or Kwa-Mashu. This will guarantee that the lives of many will definitely change, for the positive. Nguwe Wedwa did a program last year on November 25 that was called Career Guidance and Talents Workshop #VoiceAgainstDrugAbuse which has inspired many community members.

Nguwe Wedwa has also partners like Sanele Zulu who is the CEO of Green Youth Indaba situated in Pretoria. NguweWedwa in association with Green Youth Indaba has implemented one of the recycling opportunities in Umlazi through which they train, mentor and empower the youth economically. Nguwe Wedwa's focus is to impact the youth and captivate the mind of a being self-employed and create means of keeping the youth away from drugs and Alcohol, early pregnancy, and school drop out. Nguwe Wedwa works a lot of organizations including but not limited to Ethekwini Municipality(different departments), the Department of Arts and Living Cultures, Durban Chamber of Commerce, Tzozo Projects. Nguwe Wedwa also has the following private sponsors backing the organization: Lindani Driving School, Vukanisakhe Hardware, Gaba Holding, Sbonelo Mbatha, Protea Hotel, Spar, and Mfuze Hardware.
